Granite is classic and one of the most popular stones for countertops and vanities. This natural stone consists of at least 20% quartz and is very durable. Each slab of granite is unique, offering many different patterns (veins, specks, swirls) and colors. Porous granites that absorb liquid are recommended to be sealed every few years to prevent staining. This is a very simple process that only takes a few minutes.

Engineered Stone is a composite material made from crushed natural stone bound together by a polymer resin to provide a more consistent look. Engineered quartz products are gaining in popularity and are sometimes preferred over granite or marble products because engineered stone requires less maintenance. Compared to unsealed granite, it has better resistance to stains. However, recent research reported in Consumer Reports magazine reveals virtually no difference in performance between quartz products and sealed granite.
